Para 2, known as Sayaqool, explains important duties of the Muslim community and connects worship with daily conduct. It begins with the change of the qiblah towards the Ka’bah.

This change tests obedience to Allah and establishes a distinct direction for the believers’ prayer. The para calls Muslims to seek strength through patience and salah.

It describes trials involving fear, hunger, and loss, while giving glad tidings to those who remain patient. Allah’s signs in creation invite reflection, and believers are warned against following Satan or blindly accepting the mistaken practices of their ancestors.

A central passage explains that righteousness includes sound faith, generosity, prayer, zakat, keeping promises, and patience. Rules concerning lawful food, retaliation for murder, and bequests also appear.

These teachings show that devotion to Allah includes protecting life, honouring responsibilities, and caring for others. Fasting in Ramadan is prescribed to develop taqwa.

The verses explain concessions for illness and travel, the timing of the fast, and matters relating to marital intimacy and retreat in the mosque. Allah’s nearness and response to supplication are also emphasised.

Other passages discuss Hajj and Umrah, spending in Allah’s way, and fighting under limits that prohibit transgression. Questions about intoxicants, gambling, orphans, and menstruation are addressed.

Believers are taught to approach these matters through Allah’s guidance rather than personal desire. The para gives considerable attention to marriage, divorce, reconciliation, waiting periods, breastfeeding, and the treatment of widows.

Its instructions repeatedly call for fairness and kindness, even when a marriage ends. It closes with the account of Talut, his army’s test at the river, and Dawud’s defeat of Jalut.

Their story teaches that steadfastness and Allah’s support matter more than numbers. Throughout the para, faith is expressed through worship, restraint, responsible family life, and readiness to obey Allah in both ease and difficulty.
