The Main Themes and Topics Covered in This Juzz/Para of the Holy Quran

Para 21, known as Utlu Ma Oohiya, begins by commanding recitation of revelation and establishment of prayer. Salah is linked with restraint from indecency and wrongdoing.

The closing passages of Surah Al-Ankabut also teach respectful discussion with the People of the Book and reliance upon Allah. Surah Ar-Rum opens with the prediction that the Romans will recover after defeat.

It directs people beyond changing political fortunes towards Allah’s authority. Signs in creation include marriage, different languages and colours, sleep, rain, and the revival of the earth.

The surah connects corruption on land and sea with human conduct and calls people to return to the right path. Wealth, charity, resurrection, and the instability of worldly life are also discussed.

Believers are told to remain patient and firm in their certainty. Surah Luqman presents a father’s counsel to his son.

He teaches worship of Allah alone, gratitude, prayer, encouraging good, preventing wrong, and patience. Pride, contempt for others, and harshness in speech are rejected.

Respect for parents is strongly emphasised, while obedience to them does not extend to shirk. Allah’s knowledge encompasses even the smallest hidden deed.

The surah ends by reminding people of matters known fully only to Allah. Surah As-Sajdah affirms revelation, creation, and resurrection.

It contrasts those who humbly worship and spend from Allah’s gifts with those who turn away. Their different outcomes make clear that belief and wrongdoing do not lead to the same destination.

Surah Al-Ahzab opens with guidance on obedience, trust, and correct family attribution in adoption. The Battle of the Confederates reveals steadfast believers and exposes hypocrisy under pressure.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is presented as an example to follow. The para concludes with instructions concerning his wives and their choice between worldly comfort and devotion to Allah, His Messenger, and the lasting reward of the Hereafter.

Selected tafsir references (Ma’ariful Qur’an): 29:45; 30:21; 31:12; 33:9.
