The Main Themes and Topics Covered in This Juzz/Para of the Holy Quran
Para 23, known as Wa Mali, begins with the believing man’s declaration that he should worship the One who created him. His response to the messengers in Surah Ya-Sin contrasts sincere faith with the hostility of his people and introduces the reward awaiting believers.
The rest of Surah Ya-Sin points to Allah’s signs in cultivated land, night and day, the sun and moon, and transport. These familiar blessings support the truth of resurrection.
The One who created human beings initially can bring them to life again. Scenes of judgment distinguish the people of Paradise from those who rejected guidance.
The helplessness of idols and the testimony of human limbs show that denial cannot prevent accountability. Surah As-Saffat affirms Allah’s oneness and rejects false beliefs concerning the angels.
It recounts the experiences of Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa, Harun, Ilyas, Lut, and Yunus, showing divine support for faithful servants. Ibrahim’s rejection of idolatry and his readiness to fulfil the command concerning sacrifice receive particular attention.
Father and son submit to Allah, and the son is ransomed with a great sacrifice. The account highlights obedience, trust, and willingness to surrender what one loves.
Surah Sad presents further examples through Dawud, Sulayman, and Ayyub. Authority, prosperity, and suffering each bring responsibilities.
These prophets turn to Allah, demonstrating gratitude, repentance, patience, and just judgment. The account of Adam and Iblis again exposes arrogance as a cause of disobedience.
Iblis’s claim of superiority cannot justify refusing Allah’s command. Surah Az-Zumar opens by demanding sincere worship without partners.
It rejects the argument that other objects of worship are needed to bring people nearer to Allah. The changing natural world and the contrast between knowledge and heedlessness invite reflection.
The para ends by stressing the truth of revelation and the certainty of death and judgment, calling every listener towards sincere devotion.
Selected tafsir references (Ma’ariful Qur’an): 36:22; 37:100; 38:17; 39:2.
