The Main Themes and Topics Covered in This Juzz/Para of the Holy Quran

Para 7, known as Wa Iza Samiu, begins by describing people whose hearts respond to revelation with tears and sincere belief. Their example shows the value of recognising truth without pride.

Believers are then warned against declaring unlawful the good things Allah has permitted. The closing section of Surah Al-Ma’idah contains practical guidance on oaths and their expiation.

It clearly prohibits intoxicants, gambling, idolatrous practices, and divination. These activities are linked with hostility and distraction from the remembrance of Allah and prayer.

Other passages address hunting during ihram, the sanctity of the Ka’bah, and testimony connected with a bequest during travel. Muslims are also cautioned against questions that create needless hardship and against following inherited customs when they contradict revelation.

The account of the table spread requested by Isa’s disciples highlights Allah’s power and the responsibility that comes with witnessing a sign. The surah closes with Isa (peace be upon him) rejecting the claim that he instructed people to worship him or his mother alongside Allah.

Surah Al-An’am turns attention to Allah as the Creator of the heavens and earth. It challenges idol worship and shows that life, death, provision, and final judgment belong to Him alone.

The rejection faced by earlier messengers offers reassurance to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The para describes people who demand miracles yet remain unwilling to accept the truth.

It urges reflection on the natural world, including rain, plants, fruits, and the ordered movement of heavenly bodies. Ibrahim’s rejection of the worship of stars, the moon, and the sun demonstrates that created things cannot be divine.

A succession of prophets is mentioned as bearers of the same guidance. The para also forbids insulting the objects others worship when this would provoke insults against Allah.

Its message combines firm monotheism with wisdom, patience, and responsibility in speech.

Selected tafsir references (Ma’ariful Qur’an): 5:83; 5:90; 5:116; 6:74.
